Mrs Hanigan’s Blog – 19.4.17.

Here we are back again, after a lovely couple of weeks off school. All too soon, it is that time of the year and the year six children have their SATs tests coming up. As a result of this, I am working mainly with some of the children from Gold class at the moment to help them to prepare. Well done to Sky, Zana, Tyler and Liam, who have all proved to be worthy mathematicians this week…Liam even spotted my deliberate mistake when I wrote a number down incorrectly…all good practice for what not to do in tests!

In other work, Jackson and Connor were my stars this week and completed their word assessments excellently, proving what super effort they have been putting in- well done boys.

Finally, whilst I am not taking groups out over the next few weeks, I thought it would be good to have a little challenge to do…just so that our brains don’t dry up! Have a go and let me know if you can solve the challenge.

Infant Challenge:

Hilda must use exactly 20 animal legs in her potion.

These are the animals she must use:

Frog

Spider

Chicken

Use at least 1 of each.

How many combinations can you find?

Junior Challenge:

Try to get as close as you can to the target number using these six numbers:

100 50   75  3    10   7

Target Number: 423

You can't use the same number more than once.

Only plus, minus, times and divide are allowed.
