This week in silver class we have read a new book in our English lessons called, ‘Christophe’s Story’. The book tells the story of a young asylum seeker from Rwanda who comes to school in England, the children really engaged with the book and thought a lot about how a child in his position might feel. We have talked about what brings asylum seekers to England and discussed the decisions people in these circumstances make. The children have all really impressed us with their mature attitude to this topic alongside their eagerness to learn more.

In Maths we have begun to look at time… this is something we all found tricky to begin with but as the week has progressed the children have really began to show a good understanding of the topic. The children have been working with both analogue and digital times this week.

In Science the children continued learning more about space and in particular thinking about how astronauts survive in space and what they need. We learnt about how space suits work and what they need to have. The children then went on to design their own space suits – the inventiveness of these designs was amazing! They will be going up on our display board in class.

As well as this we have continued our study of the Anglo-Saxons and Scots, Vincent Van Gogh and Sikhism.

As you can see it has been a very busy and interesting week!

The children have impressed us with all of their hard work and enthusiasm.
