A sailor went to sea sea sea…

What lovely weather this week and Bronze class made the most of it by practising singing playground songs outside. They are getting really good at working as a team even when we ended up in knots singing the big ship sails on the alley alley o! We also learnt actions to some familiar songs Grandma Grandma and Miss Mary Mack. Singing these songs is great for social skills and its lovely to hear children singing and enjoying these traditional songs.

In Diamond Class we started thinking of ideas for our dawn chorus composition. In groups we discussed different instruments and how we could use our voices to reflect the different sounds of the birds. We revised music notation and had a good sing song with the what’s in the box objects.

I’m really impressed with the musical knowledge the children are acquiring. In singing assembly we discussed major and minor keys this week and some children were able to identify which pieces were in which key which is a fantastic effort. All the children are enjoying the playground singing songs and are getting really good at A sailor went to sea sea sea.

Moonbeam class are enjoying their new topic on Space so we listened to some music about the moon landing and created our own moon landing compositions. Sunshine class enjoyed listening the story of The three little pigs and used instruments to reflect the different building materials. With the nursery children we practised lots of nursery rhymes and action songs. It won’t be long before some of these children will be joining us in school!
