It feels like ages since we have all been together in the hall! What a fantastic singing assembly we had today with everyone joining in and performing the actions to our songs. We learnt 2 new songs today, Zulu Warrior and Tinga layo both of which had strong beats and were very catchy. Well done to Eliza and Caroline for some super dancing at the front. Ruby was able to keep the beat with the drum and make sure we were all in time. ( I think we'll need her next week too!) Soon we will be learning songs for our harvest assembly so that's something to look forward to. KS2 Choir also starts next Tuesday lunch time so make sure you tell your teacher if you would like to join.
In Moonbeam class we have started our new topic called Sounds Interesting. We practised singing in time and making different sounds using our hands. Some of us are already experts and can name a lot of the instruments on our music trolley, well done! We all went on a sound walk around school and could identify and descrobe a lot of familiar sounds.
In Bronze class we all got a recorder each to use for this half term. By the end of the lesson we could all try to play 3 notes on the recorder b,a and g. Emily P and Leon picked up the recorder very quickly and were able to share their music with the class. I was really impressed with how well the children in year 3 followed instructions and we even learnt how to play hot cross buns. After our practical session we spent time concentrating on writing musical notes on the treble clef. Fantastic work year 3. Keep it up!
I ended the day in Diamond Class which was lots of fun. Our whole school musical period this half term is the Baroque period. Children in year 5 are going to study this period in more depth and today looked at the composer Johann Sebastian Bach and some of his music. We were able to identify instruments he used and talked about our feelings towards his music.
It was a very busy and fun day for me today in school and I look forward to seeing you all again next week.
