Another very busy week this week…I think I’m sensing a theme here! Anyway, for the forthcoming weeks, the main focus in my timetable, will be working with some of the year six children who will be doing their SATs tests in the coming months. They will be doing some work at greater depth with me, so if you see a year six child with a glazed expression, you can hazard a guess at where they have been!
This morning was very exciting for a group of fifteen children from our Infant and Early Years department and fifteen children from Ingol Primary School. They came along for our morning dedicated to Amazing Arachnids! We also had a special visitor – John – who brought some special visitors of his own! A bird-eating spider, a tarantula and to add a little variety, a snake, a gecko and an owl! He told us lots of interesting things about spiders and the children enjoyed meeting some of his friends.
In addition to this, the children made webs of friendship and one group wrote spider poems after spotting the correct rhymes in the 'Boris the Spider' poem; another group sorted out spider facts from spider fiction and the final group played a version of Beetle Drive - though this was called a Spider Drive! They all worked incredibly hard and very much deserved their biscuit and juice.
The children who took part in the event were:

- Toby
- Harrison
- Elle
Moonbeam Class:
- Kyle
- Ellie
- Dylan

Well done all of you!
Finally, the challenge this week are spider related. There is a spider word search for the infants and one for the juniors.
Have fun and enjoy!
