We have continued looking at Greek Myths in English. Our time recently has been split between reading myths and focusing on new grammatical skills. We practised using parenthesis for the first time and then looked at some SPAG questions linked to this skill. We also practised using inverted commas again. We were familiar with the term ‘speech marks’ but forgot that inverted commas were the same thing! We practised putting speech at the start, end and in the middle of sentences. We also finished reading the myth of Perseus and Ariadne and the myth about Theseus and the Minotaur. We considered the thoughts and feelings of characters throughout the myths and we summarised and sequenced the myths. We finished the week re-enacted the myth of Theseus and the Minotaur in the form of a Drama!

In Maths we continued our Geometry topic. We spent the first lessons getting familiar with plotting coordinates on grids. After this, we began translating shapes and reflecting them. As usual, we choose our own differentiated task based on how confident we were with the new skill each day. Mr Blackburn was very impressed that most of us chose to have a go at the challenging activities that even some Year 6s struggle with! In Science we wrote up our experiment about when we tested the material properties of classroom objects. We tested the hardness, flexibility, transparency and permeability of the objects in small groups and recorded our results.

In Computing we created a rough version of a Vlog which we hope to perform in the near future once we have rehearsed what we are going to say. In DT we built our own homemade instruments which we then used to perform to a well-known song. In RE we inspected Jewish artefacts and wrote about their names and what they are used for and represent.
