We got right back into the swing of things this week, with the year six children who come out with me. We have worked on fractions, decimals and percentages in mathematics, including looking at equivalence and word-based, multiple-stage problem solving. They have also completed work on adding, subtracting, multiplying and diving fractions. To extend the pain…or for a little entertainment, I’ll include the links to the YouTube videos we looked at, to remind us about the rules for multiplying and dividing fractions. Remember guys…keep, change, flip!

In reading comprehension, we each had a leaflet from Adlington Hall. After annotating the leaflet and discussing some of the words we were less sure of, we answered some comprehension questions on the leaflet.

In S.P.A.G. and writing, we have focussed on developing our understanding of some of the grammatical terms and higher level punctuation and the children are trying to use these in their writing. We also developed our editing skills, by trying to add in the punctuation to a passage written by Terry Pratchett, that I had taken all of the punctuation and paragraphing out of! Very mean indeed! It did help the children to focus their attention on some of the things they need to consider when editing their own work.

Finally, the sun has begun to shine and St George’s Day is upon us…so the challenge this week is linked to the feast day coming up on Monday. This was taken from www.activityvillage.co.uk

Have fun and enjoy!
