More reading tests this week, all of the children in the juniors have now completed their reading tests and most of Rainbow Class too. The children have all worked incredibly hard and I was particularly impressed with the way that some of the children used excellent reasoning skills to work out the correct answers in the comprehension part of the reading test and the way that some of the younger children especially, used their segmenting and blending skills to good use, in order to read the words.

The superstar this week was:

  • Oscar (Year 2)

Well done.

This week is also National Dyslexia Awareness week, with the theme being about ‘21st Century Dyslexia’ and how technology can support those with dyslexia. There are a number of very good websites out there and information can also be found on the school website, under the ‘School Life’ section. A particular favourite of mine, is the Nessy website, which has useful sections for parents, educators and sections where children can have a go at the reading and spelling games they offer. It can be found at:

For the challenge this week, it seemed fitting to use a memory game, as many people with dyslexia can really benefit from improving their memory. Try this visual memory ‘match the pair’ game, can you beat the time that your parent’s take?

Have fun and enjoy!
