We have had many amazing moments in Moonbeam this week. This has included doubling numbers in Mathematics, finding one more and one less of a given number and some children have written 100 squares! Such an amazing achievement, especially in year 1.
In English we have looked at the story AARRGGHHH SPIDER! Which the children have thoroughly enjoyed reading and joining in with the repeating sentences. The children have looked at how the Spider felt throughout the story, why she was there and what we would do if a spider came into our home.
This week we have been looking at the five senses and what we use them for. So we put our senses to the test and had a tasting afternoon on Tuesday, eating fruit and vegetables. We blindfolded some children whilst tasting some of the fruit and used our other senses to see if they could guess what they were eating. It was very messy but the children loved it and explored how they could use different senses to find something out. Please see our pictures below of this afternoon.
Please can I remind you that children should be reading at home. We are unable to read with every child every single day due to such a busy timetable. We encourage children to read books more than once to develop their comprehension skills, by asking them questions about the book they have read. If your child has done this, why not go to the library and pick some books to read or read books at home. We love to see that children are accessing more books, they don’t have to read only their School books. We also have a reading area in class and if your child would like to take a book home from class, they are more than welcome to do so.
We ended our week with building a campfire outside then we went inside because it was too cold, where we ate milk and biscuits to celebrate everyone being in School everyday this week, go us!!
This week our star of the week is Jamie-Leigh and our merit certificates went to Oskar and Lucy, well done everyone!
We are looking forward to another exciting week next week, roll on Monday!
