This week in Diamond class we have been starting to get ready for Christmas!
We continued to practise our Christmas Carols with Mrs Bennett, in preparation for our Carol Concert at the Christian Centre in the final week of this half term. An event not to be missed!
In RE, we have considered how Christmas is celebrated in different countries all round the world, and later considered the different ways in which Christmas is celebrated closer to home in the British Isles. We also had fun considering our own Christmas traditions. We each discussed our own family traditions with the class before writing a short paragraph summarising this for our Big Book.
In Art, we created our own Christmas cards, ready to bring home in the final week. We won’t go into any further detail about these as not to ruin the surprise! We then designed our own Christmas scene and thought about how we wanted to decorate it – colouring pencils, shading with a pencil or by using oil pastels.
Whilst not a Christmas related activity, we also completed our Science unit for the half term by creating our very own model of Stonehenge. Last week, we analysed different sources about Stonehenge as we attempted to understand why it may have been created. This week the children worked in groups to try and recreate what we believe Stonehenge looked like when it was first created.
Finally, in our penultimate visit to Ashton, we had a chance to carry out the long-awaited activity of dissection! Please see our gallery page for lots of gruesome pictures of this activity!
