This week began with Monday afternoon of Science where we began to learn about Classification diagrams. We learnt what these were (one or two of us remembered from Year 4!) and then had a go at creating our own classification diagrams – firstly with fake ‘flanimal’ creatures and then with well-known biscuits. With the skills we have learnt we can now classify real creatures next week. Please see our Gallery page to see what we got up to this afternoon!
In English, we began our new topic, learning about The Iron Man. We read the first two chapters of the book, created our own interpretations of what he might look like based on the descriptions in the book and then wrote a diary entry from the perspective of one of the characters in the book. See our Gallery Page for some of these fantastic designs!
In Mathematics we have been manipulating fractions. First adding and subtracting fractions that have the same denominator before learning how to add and subtract fractions with different denominators. We shall continue to focus on fractions next week.
