Another amazing week in sunshine class trying to capture the ‘Evil Pea’. We started our week trying to think of ways to capture the ‘Evil Pea’ and the children thought of a very cunning plan. They all decided that the best way to catch him would be to trap him in some yummy jelly. We made our jelly as a class and thought about Science whilst making it. We used some great Scientific vocabulary and thought about what was happening to the jelly when we added hot water and what changes the jelly goes through when dissolving.

Throughout the week we have been thinking about how we can celebrate capturing the evil pea and we decided that if our plan was successful, we would have a big party in class. Whilst the class were at home on Thursday night, Mrs Smith set up the trap and it worked. Hurray!!!

Pattern | NCETMThe children have been so enthusiastic all week about the story and their imaginations and creative thinking has been amazing.

In Maths this week we have been learning about repeated patterns. The children have been looking for things in our environment and making patterns with leaves, sticks and flowers.

Stick Man : Donaldson, Julia, Scheffler, Axel: Amazon.co.uk: BooksWe had some very special letters sent in to school this week from Mrs Parkinson who is missing the children very much. I know the children loved receiving their individual letters from Mrs Parkinson and I know she will love reading your letters next week after writing them for your homework. The children have been missing Mrs Parkinson and we all wish her a speedy recovery.

This week, we have also been starting to learn our Nativity songs which has been very, very exciting. The children all sing so well and it has been lovely hearing them get excited about Christmas. Next week we will be starting to read the book ‘Stickman’. This story leads into our Christmas festivities really well with the story finishing with the stick family celebrating Christmas. We will talk about how we celebrate Christmas and also learn the true meaning of Christmas and why Christian people celebrate this special day.
