This week we have continued learning about the Gingerbread Man. We have been thinking about different ways The Gingerbread Man could cross the river.

" He could climb over a bridge" Lillie

" He could ride on a bird" Bobby

"He could go in a helicopter" Coby

"He could go in a boat" Lucie

We decided to make boats. We got out lots of recyclable materials and in pairs we made our own boats, we used cellotape and masking tape to stick different materials together.

On Wednesday afternoon we learnt about materials that sink and float.

"If it sinks it goes under the water to the bottom" Bobby

" If it floats it stays up at the top of the water" Lorelle

" a boat floats" Leighton

" A leaf floats" Luna

" A spoon sinks" Thomas

" Cardboard sinks" Lorelle

We got a Ginger biscuit to test to see if our boats would float and keep the Gingerbread Man safe and dry.

This week we have also been learning about money in maths and looking at the different types of coins and the value of them. We have a shop role play in class where we can practise spending money and working out what coins to use depending on the value of the object.

In Phonics we have been re-capping some sounds that we have been finding a little tricky to make sure we are secure with these for our reading and writing and we have been learning our H/F words. We have played corners outside, sorted words into the right sounds and been looking for our words in a text and highlighting them.
