Springing back to school
This week has been all about settling into new routines and accessing even more activities. Our topic this week has been “Eggs” we have learnt all about the different animals that are born from eggs and the groups they come from (insects, reptiles, fish, birds, amphibians) in our groups we made posters about the animals that come from eggs. We have also learnt about the life cycles of frogs and butterflies which was very interesting.
In Phonics we have focussed on blending words together and writing our own short sentences about eggs. We have recapped sounds we still find tricky and all children have read every day this week. We have spent time finding and writing high frequency words too.
Maths has been a tall order this week as we have learnt how to measure in cm using short and long rulers, measuring tapes and trundle wheels. We have all ordered items in size order from shortest to longest. The nurses also came in and measured how tall we all are too this week which was good fun. Fola is the tallest and Ann is the shortest person in Sunshine class. We have also been ordering numbers to 20, writing numbers and finding missing numbers in a number line.
It has been a very active week with Dance on Tuesday, Gymnastics on Wednesday and Football on Thursday. We really enjoyed the Gymnastics as a new experience.
