In English we have been working hard with our writing. We have looked at using conjunctions in our sentences and some adjectives to make it more interesting.

Mrs Parkinson went to the cinema and she took her granny.

We played inside because it was raining outside.

We have also written some thankyou letters to Grandma from the perspective of Billy from the story Silly Billy as she helped with his worries. These were absolutely fantastic.

During Mathematics we have been looking at odd and even numbers. Working on the rule we only need to look at the last digit in any number. Numbers ending in 0, 2, 4, 6 or 8 are even and numbers ending in 1, 3, 5, 7 or 9 are odd. The children could tell us straight away the number 4563 was an odd number just by looking at the 3 in the ones column.

In our Geography lessons we have continued learning about the world. Where the 4 countries in the United Kingdom are located and where the oceans are around the world.

On a Friday we join with year 1 for Music and learn about music from different genres. Last week we listened to Madonna – ‘Material girl’ and ‘Like a prayer’ and this week we listened to Oasis – ‘Wonderwall’ and ‘Half the world away’. We are also learning our Harvest songs.

In our PE lessons we have continued practicing our throwing and catching skills using different techniques such as a chest pass and an overhead pass. We also started to learn a new team game, Netball. The children enjoyed this and did well learning the rules. We will continue working on spatial awareness; making sure we are looking where we are running and moving out of the way of obstacles.
