This week in Rainbow class we have been writing our own fictional stories, based on the book Hermelin.
"We were writing our stories about Hermelin. In my story Emily and Hermelin were putting up a sign when they noticed there were lots of missing moggies (that means cats!)." - Emily J
"In the stories the cats got lost. In my story the boshers took the cats to the middle of nowhere." - Layla
In maths this week Mrs Ridings has been teaching us about capacity and mass.
"Capacity is measured in millilitres (ml) and litres (l)" - Jamaar
"Mass is measured in grams (g) and kilograms (kg)" - Emma.
"This week we made flapjacks." - Emma
We had to measure out the ingredients accurately using the scales before we could make our flapjacks.
"They were yummy!" - Emily P.
In Geography we have started a new unit all about Katie Morag and where she lives.
"Katie Morag lives on the Isle of Struay." - Tegan.
"She lives on an Island and she plays out by herself." - Callie
"We learnt about seals. There are two types of seal - a common seal and a grey seal." - Jamaar.
We have also been working VERY hard practising for our special quizzes coming up. The children have been revising lots of written methods for maths. Thank you to those parents who have been supporting and helping their children complete the practise tests that have been sent home. I am SO impressed with how hard working and mature the children have been over the last few weeks. They are certainly getting ready for year 3 (which is a very sad thought for me!!!)
A huge well done this week to our merit certificate winners Cian and Leon and our star of the week Max!!
