This week in singing assembly we learnt two new songs; When I needed a neighbour and If I had a hammer. These were both songs about looking after our friends and family. The children managed really well especially with the octave leap in the chorus of If I had a hammer which some of the staff struggled with!

In Nursery we had lots of fun singing about baa baa pink sheep and playing instruments to Peter hammers with one hammer. In Sunshine class we used the drums and shakers in time to the fee fi fo fum of the giant in Jack and the beanstalk. We also sang lots of our favourite nursery rhymes. In Year 2 we are starting our new topic on a seaside holiday theme. Teegan gave some excellent answers. Well done! We looked at the props and thought about sounds we would hear on the seaside. We learnt what dynamics are and varied dynamics in the song about shells.

In Bronze class we had a lovely time starting our new playground singing topic. Children were able to share lots of playground songs they knew already. Brayton was very keen when he came up to the front to share his version of a sailor went to sea. I was really impressed with Reo and his clapping ability. We went into the playground and practised singing playground songs with actions and skipping ropes. Next week we will try to write a new verse to a playground song so let’s hope the weather continues to be lovely so we can go out again.

In Diamond class we had lots of fun writing our own rhythms and remembering all the different note values. We practised clapping and singing different rhythm patterns and I was impressed with the time keeping of everyone. I will have to find more challenging rhythms for next week. We also enjoying singing in 2 parts.
