This week in school has been Green Week and what a busy week it’s been, we have done lots of different activities and learnt lots about how we can all do our bit for the environment.

On Monday we did PE with Silver class, Miss Wilson taught us all some dance moves, we did this because exercise is one way to keep us healthy, in the afternoon we talked about healthy and non-healthy foods and designed our own healthy meal.

“We did the heel toe heel toe move” Ela

“We exercise to get healthy” Jack

On Monday afternoon we started to make our own hats made from recycled materials, we all looked very fashionable.

“We used paper and fabric to make hats” Indy

On Tuesday we finished off our amazing recycled hats then we got our wellies and rubber gloves on and did our bit for the environment, we went on a walk around the local area and picked up litter off the floor, we nearly filled 3 bin bags full of rubbish.

“We picked up cans, paper and plastic from all round school, the shop and park” Ellie

On Wednesday we carried on our creativity and made pencil pots from old cardboard tubes and wool. We read the story of the Messy Magpie and creative some posters about litter. The children enjoyed using Cheerio’s to make their own bird feeders and we have planted tome seeds in our outdoor classroom.

On Thursday we had some very special visitors in school, Lush came and some children got to join them and make their own bath bombs. They taught us lots about their products and how they are all friendly to the environment by not using a lot of plastic. We did some science experiments with the bath bombs and needed to find out if they worked best with cold water or hot water. We all left the room smelling lush.

“We made a teddy bear bath bomb, it smelt really good” Sophia

Friday came around and we had some more important visitors in school, the NSPCC came in to talk to us about keeping safe and what to do if we ever feel sad, we all learnt that “we have the right to stay safe”

After playtime we got our aprons on and all chopped vegetables up ready to make a healthy soup

“We chopped potatoes, carrots and broccoli” Nevaeh

In the afternoon when the soup was cooked we all tried the soup

“The soup tastes yummy” Charley
