A fun-filled year one phonics frenzy has gone on this week! Indy, Bobbi-Jack, Eliza and Oscar all worked very hard on their phonics, including using pincers to find and name the phonemes in the sand; playing ‘Which Hoop?’ (in this game, they had to decide what vowel phoneme they could hear in the word); they wrote the phonemes in chalk and (definitely a favourite!), writing them with the squirty-painty-water, together with playing ‘Phoneme Corners’. They are all doing so well with their sounds and should be very proud of themselves.

Wednesday afternoon, saw Moonbeam class reading 'Room on the Broom' – Sophia was a real star at finding the rhymes in the book. We even looked at how the words needed to sound the same at the end, but that it didn’t matter whether they looked the same…so, ‘what’ and ‘not’ rhyme!

It seems appropriate to have a rhyme-related challenge this week, so follow the link and see how many rhymes you can find.

 Have fun and enjoy!
