This week we continued our focus on written work before our moderation next week. This week has seen some fantastic pieces of written work being produced by the children! We have written narratives about The Hobbit and The Iron Man. We wrote our own interpretation of both these well known books. Here is an extract from Maddy Uttley's narrative:
There once lived a young boy named Hogarth. He was puny (only 4 foot tall) and was scared of new and unfamiliar things. He lived with his: dad, mum and his little sister. His Dad went hunting at least once each week, his Mum always cleaned up around the house. Hs sister was usually the one making the mess! Hogarth didn’t make too much mess at home; he preferred walking in the countryside, particularly in the forest nearby.
One beautiful, bright morning, Hogarth walked through the forest – his personal favourite walk. In front of him he saw a silver shiny building. “How strange, “ he thought to himself, “I’ve never seen this before.” He cautiously walked forward to inspect this new building. Ashe got closer he realised that it wasn’t a silver, shiny building at all, it was actually an enormous, iron creature.
The Iron Giants body had: eyes like traffic lights - glowing yellow and green, it’s skin was pure steel and every time he stomped it sounded like a train crashing into a tree branch. Hogarth’s fear of the unknown started to creep in once he realised how close he was to this strange creature. He bolted to the nearby road. Hogarth spotted a car, which had come from the small village nearby. Luckily for Hogarth, it was his Dad. His dad pulled over and he swiftly jumped into the front seat of his dad’s car.
