This week we have continued to do some amazing work and work really hard. We have been working on accessing challenges around the room and I am really proud of all the children in Moonbeam class for their amazing efforts this week.
We have been working on our number bonds to 5 in Mathematics, finding two numbers that make 5. We have been hopping like frogs to find the matching numbers and helped monsters climb the number line to 5, from where they began.
We have been looking at sense poetry this week in English. We have been outside in the wind to see if we could feel, smell, hear, touch and taste the wind. We used a fan in the classroom to see what would happen to our cardigans, hair and paper when they were in front of the fan. We wrote what we liked best about our poems and explained our answers. We also recited ‘Wind Ways’ and made actions for each verse, it was a lot of fun.
In History this week we have looked at old and new toys and what they’re made out of. Thank you to everyone who brought in old toys for us to look at. In Science we have learnt to say, “My name is” in sign language, as part of experiencing what it might be like to not have one of our senses. We also played pin the tail on Gerald the giraffe, to see how we could explore the environment without sight.
We have had a super busy week this week and have worked SO hard! I have sent a message about spellings home in spelling records and spellings can now be found on the website. I have also sent home parent’s evening appointments home and I look forward to seeing everyone on Tuesday. The children are looking forward to you seeing all of their work.
Leyton received a merit certificate this week for his fantastic efforts in Phonics and Etienne was awarded a merit certificate for his superb independent sentence writing in English. Our star of the week award went to Kayden for a wonderful week in Moonbeam class.
A BIG happy birthday to Harrison (5th) and Leyton (6th) from myself and all the children in Moonbeam class and thank you for the cake!
