What a week. We certainly haven’t slowed down this week in Moonbeam Class.

We have focused on lots of different things this week and the children have worked amazingly hard. After parents evening on Tuesday the children had a phonics activity morning on Wednesday to celebrate how hard they have been working. They played lots of different games and activities to recap their phase 2 and 3 sounds. This included twister sounds, pictures and captions, bingo and spelling different words. We also had a conker competition with our almighty large tube (thank you to Iya-Rose’s mum), to see who’s conker would go the furthest.

On Thursday we started to make super cars, the next generation of automobiles, as we have looked at the changes in transport this week. They will be finished next week and there will be a competition in class where there will be prizes…keep a look out next week to see who the winners are!

In English we have made mud pie ingredients lists, where some of the children got a lot of stickers and team points from the teachers in School due to their efforts in handwriting and imaginative writing. We also went out into the grounds of the School to help us with our describing words. We were able to describe mud in different textures and worked really hard to develop our descriptive vocabulary. We also described a variety of different mystery objects and the children loved finding out what their friends had been describing from the feely bag.

In Mathematics we have looked at number bonds to 10, which has been amazing! The children are working really hard on their number formations whilst writing in their books…fantastic work! In Art this week with Miss Chippendale the children have created collage portraits, which look fabulous and very creative.

Thank you to everyone who helped their child complete their phonics homework this week, it really does make a difference to their writing skills and knowledge of different sounds. Another thank you to everyone who came to parent’s evening, it was great to speak to you all and I hope you enjoyed looking at the children’s work so far.

Our merit certificates this week went to Toby for always thinking of others, (especially his fellow School council representatives for looking after their appetites) and to Joshua for his fabulous Mathematics work. Our star of the week is Ines for her wonderful effort all week and Dan the man and Tom gave their football certificate to Elle, well done everyone!

Next week is Road Safety Week so please make sure your child has a coat in School every day, as we will be outside, even if it's raining.

Please take a look at our week in pictures.
