Welcome back! What a fun first week we have had in Moonbeam Class.

This week we have started our new English topic with the story, ‘Man on the Moon’. We have learnt all about Bob and made lots of predictions of what we think he does on the moon and why he works there. We have also packed our own bags ready for a trip to the moon, deciding what we would take and what we would like to do there.

What have we learnt about ‘The Man on the Moon’?

Damian – Bob flies to the moon.

Dhayyan – Bob cleans up the moon for the aliens.

Gabriella – Bob hoovers the moon.

Ines – Bob helps aliens.

What would you like to do on the moon?

Harrison – I want to play on the moon.

Mya – I want to play with aliens.

Kayden – I will hoover.

Elle – I would like to teach the aliens about Earth and about Mars.

Iyla-Rose – I want to make stars and let them shine in the sky so me and my family can see them and I can write about them.

Scarlett – I would like to dig up the moon so I can take it home.

Filza – I want to put a flag on the moon.

Toby – I would like to play with my friends and have a picnic.

We have also enjoyed space food, including alien poo, alien kebabs, space sweets, astronaut sandwiches and flying saucers. The children in Moonbeam class have loved this topic and have worked really hard in their independent writing, applying adjectives to add more detail to their work. We are all so proud of their progress in their writing and their phonics. Their hard work is definitely paying off.

What has been your favourite part of the week?

Leyton – The space station

Aaron – Doing my work.

Lucy – Our space station and the fairy and unicorn land.

Jamie-Leigh – The fairyland.

Bree-Anna – Choosing in the space station.

Etienne – Learning about space and the moon.

Patryk – The space station.

Joshua – Doing my work.

Maddison – Eating the Space food.

Our star of the week is Jamie-Leigh.

Our merit certificates this week went to Toby for showing his fantastic imagination in his independent writing and to Elle, for also working hard in her independent writing, applying adjectives and apostrophes accurately.

Football development awarded their certificate this week to Kayden.

Well done everyone!

Thank you to those of you who completed some, if not all, of the Phonics packs I sent home before Easter. It is very much appreciated and it will certainly benefit the children for the Phonics assessments.
