What a busy week we have had!

We began reading our new book – Friend or Foe – in English. To immerse us in this new topic, we have been carrying out research into the Blitz and evacuees during World War Two. We began the week asking questions we wished to know about this era of history and ended the week by analysing real diary entries from evacuees at the time, with a view to writing our own diary entry from the perspective of an evacuee next week.

Keep an eye out for the letter that should have come home tonight! We are having a themed ‘evacuee day’ on Tuesday 1st October where we have lots of activities lined up at school and at the local Christian Centre. This day will be a great opportunity for the children to get a feel for what it was like being an evacuee during the war and give them a unique opportunity to meet some people in the local community who lived through the blitz. Please return the reply slip to this letter asap so that we know that you are aware of this exciting day that we have coming up!
