I am proud as punch of Moonbeam Class this week. I can’t believe how fantastic and grown up they have been with their learning this week.

We have looked at ordering random numbers from smallest to largest and then largest to smallest, as well as using greater and less than signs to compare two numbers. Maths has been a light bulb moment this week as everything we have done has just seemed to click with all of the children.

In English we have created our own fact files about the animals we have learnt about from our non-fiction text. We have also thought of our own questions to ask the narrator about his adventures and we then acted as Sam to answer questions in our pairs. Another light bulb moment as their understanding has developed so well and their speaking and listening was so good on Friday, that they all got a special little certificate.

In Science we explored how animals use their senses to survive. In Geography with Miss Chippendale the children looked at the difference between towns and the countryside and in P.S.H.C.E they discussed how everyone is different and why that is special. In D.T this week we looked at food hygiene and how we can keep our cooking environment clean.

Phonics has been a bit different this week as we haven’t focused on specific sounds. Instead, we looked at the vowel sounds and finding them in words. We have now completed phase 4 and are secure in phase 3, which means we can move onto phase 5. We learnt a vowel song to help us remember them and I’m sure your child/children would love to sing it for you! Again, the children are making me amazingly proud with their understanding of phonics as they continue to apply the sounds to their writing.

On Friday we celebrated with Golden time in the afternoon after break, after such a busy and successful week of learning.

The class and I would like to say a HUGE thank you to Ellie and her mum for making us an advent calendar. It is phenomenal and the class were so excited when Ellie showed it to them all. It is so thoughtful and we are extremely grateful.  So from everyone in Moonbeam Class, THANK YOU!

This week our Star of the Week is Esme.

The Good friend certificate was chosen by the children and they voted for Jamie.

Merit Certificates this week were awarded to Hope and Logan.

The Sports award this week went to Lillie.

Well done to everyone!

We hope you all have a lovely weekend.
