Following a fabulous pirate day last Friday, we have continued this week finding out more about the life of a pirate, how they would live, and what things they would do on a ship.

We have also continued finding out more about under the sea animals by using the computer to find facts about our favourite sea creatures. We have written some lovely facts for the classroom display.

In Phonics we have really been consolidating our knowledge of the phase 3 sounds, and the first 100 high frequency words. We are becoming brilliant with forming our own words and short sentences. Everybody has read 4 times this week too which is amazing; reading skills are really developing nicely now.

This week in maths we have been adding again, but this time much more independently in our continuous provision.

It has been an exciting week as our outdoor extension has been finished so we have loved exploring the new challenges and areas that have been set up this week. The mud kitchen now has a café, we have been able to access the water play more freely and we have enjoyed reading and performing with the music in our new music hut.

AFC Fylde came in on Thursday and we had our weekly football skills. We have also been out twice to practise running in straight lines, completing races against our friends.

Today was our mad scientist day, where we have been able to conduct a range of experiments and investigations with all our classes, moving round and meeting different mad scientists throughout the morning. We have enjoyed a quiz and celebration of our brilliant new findings this afternoon.
