Supertato’

Wow, what a fantastic week it has been in sunshine class. We started our week learning a really fun story ‘Supertato’. The story is all about a superhero potato that saves all the vegetables in the supermarket from the ‘Evil Pea’. The children made their own superhero characters with Miss Bryson and it was great seeing them all be really creative, decorating their potatoes with feathers, googly eyes and capes. On Wednesday we came in to the class and saw that the ‘Evil Pea’ had been and trapped all of our amazing vegetables and we found a note from the pea. We had to make wanted posters to warn all the school that there was a pea on the loose. On Thursday we couldn’t believe that the pea had been back in to our class again. This time he had frozen Mrs Smith’s and Miss Bryson’s vegetables. The children turned into scientists and thought about how we could help the vegetables escape. We used hot water and the children helped to free the vegetables. We used really good scientific words like melting, dissolving and heat.

Supertato: The Evil Pea Rules! by Sue Hendra & Paul Linnet - The Book Marketing SocietyIn Maths this week we have been continuing our work on shape. We went for a walk around the local area, searching for 2D and 3D shapes. The children loved looking in the environment and we found some really interesting shapes. We have also been focusing on our number sense. The children have been working hard to think about what each number means and looks like. For example trying to predict how many spots are on a ladybird without having to count them. The children then went on to counting ladybird spots using a game on the ipad.

Thank you again Sunshine Class for another amazing week.
