This week we have found out all about our families (thank you for the photographs sent in).

We have made our own homes, and stick our pictures inside using scissors and glue. Lots of children have been confident enough to talk to the whole class about who lives in their home, their pets and who they enjoy spending time with.

We have also finished our self-portraits, selecting the correct colours for our eyes, hair and skin tones. We have accepted we are all different, all special and all good at different things.

The children have also been practising writing their names and we have collaged them or painted them too.

In phonics we have learnt the phonemes i, n and m. We have written the graphemes and have had a try at segmenting and blending words as a whole class.

Our maths work has involved learning the numbers 3 and 4 this week. We have been forming these numbers and finding quantities to show them too. We have enjoyed more counting songs and have counted the beats we can hear on an instrument carefully too.

On Wednesday we put on our wellies and went for a walk in the school grounds to find numbers we recognised.

PE lessons this week included Dance where we moved to music to celebrate the life of the Queen and football where we dribbled the ball with more accuracy and aimed at targets.

It is lovely to see the children all forming more secure relationships with one another and the staff. We have now all been put into key groups which are hedgehogs with Mrs Parkinson, Squirrels with Miss Bryson, Foxes with Mrs Hudson and Owls with Miss Mason. Next week we will start to do more work in our key groups linked to communication and language, reading skills, maths and PSED.

This weeks star of the week is Thomas

Our kind friend award is for Cole

Our merit awards are for Coby and Chloe

Next Friday is our first stay and play session. All children may have one adult attend this session (due to space) and we politely ask that no younger siblings attend. This session is a good opportunity to find out all about how we teach Phonics and early reading in school and will help you to support your reading with this very important stage of their learning journey. I hope you will be able to attend.
