On Friday we remembered those who gave their lives so that we can live the lives that we lead today. We had our usual Celebration Assembly with Mr Blackburn before a special Remembrance Assembly with Mr Mearns.
In class, we wrote war poetry throughout the morning to conclude our English topic that we have been working on throughout the week. Then, we read some of these poems with intonation and expression. After the two minutes silence, each member of our class (including the staff too) placed a poppy onto a silhouette on the wall as a sign of respect and remembrance. We then learnt how to create silhouettes and made our own linked to war time imagery. In the afternoon we created our own poppy mosaics.
The two minute silence was observed impeccably in Gold Class and I must commend everyone in class on their respect and maturity shown throughout the silence and throughout the entire day.
