I can't believe it's already the end of week one. We've had a very busy one and have been settling into the routines of being in Year 2 this week.
In maths we have been looking at place value but getting creative with food to help us learn. The children are beginning to understand how many tens and ones make up a number. We are also practising our 10x tables which we need to learn off by heart in year 2.
The children have been wowing me this afternoon with their football skills. Reegan and Alan in particular have been showing off their ball control which is much, much better than mine!
Well done to all those children who did their homework AND big write homework this week. Caroline has impressed me by doing TWO pieces in one week! I loved your tambourine Caroline! Please can I just remind you that the big write and one piece from the homework web must be done each week. The children use their big write homework to support them in our fortnightly big writes. Next week we will be doing a big read, focussing on our comprehension skills, so the children do not have a big write homework to complete this week.
A huge well done to our merit certificate winners Esther and Nicole and our Star of the Week Reegan. Keep up the good work. Also, well done to Leo who is the sports person of the week.
Have a lovely weekend and I will see you all Monday morning ready for another busy week of learning!
