This week we have been getting into the Christmas spirit with lots of crafts and of course our nativity performance.
I want to say a HUGE well done to all the children for their amazing efforts in the nativity this week. I am so proud of each and every child for learning their lines and then performing and singing their hearts out this week. A big thank you to all the mums and dad who have helped them to learn their lines too.
“I enjoyed doing the speaking part” – Nicole C
“I enjoyed having the mums and dads come to watch the nativity.” – Darcy
“I liked singing in the nativity.” – Reegan
“I loved the raffle at the end of the nativity.” - Caroline
This week we have been getting crafty and making some Christmas decorations, calendars and pictures. In RE we have been learning about who St Nicholas is.
“St Nicholas is Father Christmas and he gave money to poor people.” – Ada
“We read a poem about St Nicholas.” - Alicja
In PSHCE we have been remembering Shimmer, our class gerbil, and learning about loss. The children read a story called ‘I’ll always love you’ and then drew pictures sharing their favourite memories of Shimmer. We have also been watching Shine make a very large bed and eat away at the house we bought her!
Next week we will be getting even more into the festive spirit with more crafts, cards and activities. We are also going to the pantomime on Tuesday and Wednesday afternoon is our Christmas Party. Children can wear their Christmas party clothes, providing these are sensible and the children are wearing suitable footwear for the weather. Please send in party food on the Wednesday morning, enough for 4 children is all we need.
There are no spellings or homework this week. Instead I have set the children a challenge of a Christmas list, where the children are to try and do as many festive activities on the list as possible and to have fun!
Looking forward to a final festive week before a nice, hectic break.
Miss Ellison
