On Monday we started our week by having a spring walk, we talked about what we could see and what we could hear.

Brodey 'We saw three squirrels'

Harrison 'I can here the birds singing'

The children started making Spring pictures using different textures such as grass, sand, paint, tissue paper and felt. They put on what they said a spring day is like and they chose Spring animals to draw.

Outside the children have been planting sunflower seeds, tomatoes, onions, potatoes and flowers. 6 children who seemed really interested in planting have been chosen to be young farmers. They have been digging the vegetable patch ready to plant various vegetables and flowers.

Children worked in groups to write a spring acrostic poem.

In phonics this week we have re-capped the igh sound and introduced the oa sound. The children found words around the room with the oa sound in and they had a go at writing these words.

Joshua found the word coat.

Elle found the word boat.

Harvey wrote a super sentence, he wrote My coat is red.

Maths this week has been all about shapes. We have talked about 2D and 3D shapes using the mathematical terms to describe them. The children then went on a shape hunt, when they found a shape they had to draw the shape, write what it was called and then tell a teacher whether it was a 2D or a 3D shape.

Sunshine class have got back into doing the mile a day walk and on Thursday they had their yoga session.

Our Star of the week is Mya

Our merit certificate winners this week are Joshua and Maddison.
