The Jabberwocky

100 years ago, the venomous snakes,

Did sliver and hiss in their habitat:

All mysterious were the leopards,

And the ants crawled all over.

“Beware the Jabberwocky, my dear child!

The claws that scratch, the teeth that catch!

Beware the floating badger, and blank

The Black Widow!”

The dear child took his sharp blade in hand;

For a long time he was deep in thought looking for the enemy,

The dear child rested by the great oak tree.

Still deep in thought.

And, as in deep thought he rested,

The Jabberwocky, with eyes as red as blood,

Came charging through the woods to the great oak,

And growled as it came.

Three, two, one! Three, two one and in and out

The sharp blade went slice into the Jabberwocky

He left it dead and took its head

He went skipping happily back to village.

“Goodness gracious me, my dear child has slain The Jabberwocky,

Come into my arms my dear child!

Well done my dear child! Hurray Hurray!”

He danced with excitement.
