What a week we have had in sunshine class. In English we have continued with our topic, Polar Regions and we couldn’t have asked for more suitable weather conditions to inspire the children. This week have learnt about the differences between fiction and non fiction books which I’m sure you will all agree is such a tricky concept. As always sunshine class have surpassed themselves and have even written their own non fiction books about different animals of the arctic. As everyone worked so hard with their writing, the whole class went out to enjoy some fun in the snow. We all had an amazing time, writing our names in the snow and of course doing some snow angels. Have a look on our gallery. After all that fun we all warmed up with some hot chocolate indoors.
In maths we have continued with measuring this week and have begun measuring items in cm using the correct equipment. We have also been measuring our own hands and feet and comparing sizes with our friends. We have also started some investigations and experiments this week. Investigating the temperatures of different rooms within the school and also experimenting with ice, seeing as we have enough of it around at the moment.
With the weather being so cold and all the ice and snow being around us, it has been the perfect time to investigate freezing and melting. In our groups we thought about how to turn water into ice and froze bears into the middle of ice cubes. Today we investigated how to free the bears as quick as we could.
Well done to the Strawberry group who freed their bear the quickest.
This week our star of the week is Grace and our merit certificate winners are Justyna and Esme. Well done
The sports certificates this week went to Aleks and Remi.
