Our first week back and it feels as though we’ve never been away!

This week we have started our Ebook “All About Elephants” and we are trying to find out why elephants have such big ears.

“I think they need big ears to make wind.”

- Ines.

“I think they have big ears so they can hear lions coming and then runaway from them.”

- Harrison.

“I think they use their big ears so they can listen really carefully.”

- Mya.

We have been looking at clues from other animals to find out if they use their ears to hunt.

“Elephants can tell which animal is coming because they can hear their footprints and can tell which animal it is/”
- Toby.

The children have loved using all the different clues and we are still trying to find out other reasons for why their ears are so big. From looking at different animals for clues, we have created an informative poster on leopards, which are amazing! They have included lots of important information and we have all enjoyed learning new things, even the adults.

In Maths we have looked at missing number problems for addition and subtraction as well as doubling numbers. With Miss Chippendale on Wednesday, the children explored different surfaces in their Art lesson and in P.E we have started to use equipment in our gymnastics lessons.

In Science we have started our plants topic and the children have made cress. We are carrying out an experiment to see which environment will be the best in order for the cress to grow.

Please take a look at our football development photos and images from us making our cress, in the file below.

Our star of the week is Harrison, who has shown a huge improvement in his attitude in class and we are all so proud of him.

Our first merit certificate this week has been awarded to Maddison for her enthusiasm and amazing attitude towards all of her work. Even when it can be challenging, she’s not given up and she has been working really hard on this.

Our second merit certificate has been awarded to Dhayyan who has started in our class this week. He has already settled in really well and has made lots of friends already.

Lloyd from football development has awarded Damian and Ines his certificates this week.

Well done everyone!
