We have been focusing on our number bonds to 10 and adding two numbers together. This can be quite tricky at first but the children have been amazing and worked really hard at mastering different techniques for their working out. Also this week, have been writing descriptive ingredients for mud pies and describing the weather with our senses, inspired by our new poetry unit, ‘sensational senses’.

Autumn has arrived and earlier in the week we had our Harvest assembly which went really well, we all enjoyed singing for the audience in the hall and the children were fantastic! We have enjoyed Autumn walks in the School grounds and observing how the environment is changing around us.

A few reminders for next week:

- Parent’s evening is on Tuesday 15th October. It is so lovely to see that so many of you have made appointments and will be able to see all the wonderful things and work your children have done so far in year 1.

- Our sponsored Dance-a-thon event is on Friday 18th October. We will be dancing for as long as we can and will post pictures of this on next week’s blog. Sponsor money must be handed in to Miss Wilson on our first day back after half term, Wednesday 31st October. Thank you for your continues support. The children are very excited to choose what they can buy with our sponsor money, for our classroom.

Next Friday there will also be a reward for children who have completed all of their homework this half term, at home.

This week’s Star of the Week is Grace.

Our merit certificates this week went to Ellie-Mae for showing confidence and determination in everything she does and to Esme, for her fantastic use of adjectives in her writing this week.

Well done to you all!

One week to go of this half term! We hope you all have a lovely weekend and we will see you on Monday.
