Our new English topic is Migration. The big question for this unit is “Which animal has the toughest migration?” Throughout the week we began looking at the migration journeys of different animals and will continue this into next week.

In Science we studied the lunar cycle of the Moon. As part of our studies we considered the different types of Moon we can see in the sky, why the shape of the Moon appears to change and the order in which the lunar cycle occurs.

In PE we continued our basketball skills. We practised a range of dribbling skills as well as the different types of pass we can use in basketball and when to effectively use each type of pass. Perhaps using the overhead pass is not a good idea against the tallest person in class! We then split into four team and played a possession game where one team had to keep control of the basketball for as long as they could.

In PSHCE, we continued our drug awareness topic. We looked at a range of empty packets of over the counter and prescribed drugs and considered the safety considerations displayed on the back of each. We also researched a range of illegal drugs before creating a drug awareness poster with a catchy slogan!

On Friday we once again visited Ashton Community College. This week we learnt how water distillation works. Once again, this was a very informative and enjoyable session. All pictures from our visits to Ashton each week are available on our Diamond class gallery page.
