This week we have had our Safer Travel Week in Key Stage 1, where all the children have completed their road safety tasks and learnt how to cross the road safely. In our class, we worked really hard to learn how we can cross safely with an adult and that we always need to hold onto an adult, cross the road in a straight line after having checked in every direction for any vehicles coming our way. On Wednesday, we also crossed the road with the crossing patrol person, who kindly came into our class to discuss how she could help the children cross the road safely. All of the children have worked really hard on this and have been able to remember all the key elements as to how to cross the road safely.
Also this week, we have explored hygiene and oral hygiene. As we are approaching winter, we thought it was important to discuss how we can keep ourselves germ free. We also practiced cleaning our teeth and discussed why it’s important to keep our mouths and teeth clean and healthy. All the children have been given a toothbrush and toothpaste from today, with a leaflet containing additional information. We loved cleaning our teeth together and the children really understood the benefits of cleaning our teeth regularly.
Monday was Remembrance Day and we all took part in the 2 minute silence in the hall, as a mark of respect to all those who have died for our Country. As a class, we discussed why we have Remembrance Day and the children were very thoughtful in their discussions and understanding. I am very proud of how mature and respectful they were.
Today has been Children in Need day and we have raised lots of money for this amazing charity. Thank you for sending your children in with their money for donations and they all looked wonderful in yellow, spotty and pudsey outfits.
This week our Star of the Week is Ellie-Mae.
The Good friend certificate was chosen by the children and they voted for Lucas.
Merit Certificates this week were awarded to Grace and Kara.
Sports awards from Lloyd were awarded to Isaac and Justyna.
Well done to everyone!
