Welcome back to Autumn Term 2 where we are very excited to get straight back into learning and having fun with the children.
This week we have studied poetry in English and we have written an acrostic poem about Autumn, following an Autumn walk in the School grounds, we performed a rhyming poem in front of our peers and wrote a poem with ingredients for a mud pie. The children’s enthusiasm about poetry this week has been wonderful and they have all worked exceptionally hard. (Please see our gallery for pictures.)
In Science, we have again been looking at animals and we have explored their structures and how animals are all different and have different body parts such as tentacles, horns, tusks, fins or gills. The children loved playing the guess which animal game where they described an animal to their friends and they had to guess which animal was being described. Their understanding of different animals was wonderful and I am proud of their eagerness to learn.
In Maths we have looked at doubles of numbers to 10 or 20 and add single digit numbers. We will continue to look at addition next week as we look at different methods of adding numbers together.
We have learnt/recapped ‘ch’ and ‘sh’ in Phonics this week and concentrated on understanding the difference between the two sounds. We also went on a word hunt around the classroom to find ‘ch’ and ‘sh’ words and sort them into the correct tables. (Please see our gallery for pictures.)
Geography has been taught by out trainee teacher Miss Patel this week where the children began to look at Our Country and the surrounding seas. She also started our Christianity topic in R.E where they discussed and explored the Christianity beliefs and symbols of their faith.
In P.S.H.C.E we have talked about different types of feelings and how we can talk to people in different circumstances and express how we feel. We also meditated and practised different calming techniques for when we may feel emotions such as stressed, mad or frustrated.
We have had a very busy week and the children have settled well back into their routines and we are very proud of them all.
Our Star of the Week is Payton.
Our Merit Certificate winners are Alexander and Kiswa.
Our Good Friend award was awarded to Katie-May.
We hope you have a lovely weekend and stay safe.
