Week 2 marks a very busy week with lots of special events and dates in the calendar. On Wednesday it was Remembrance Day and what we looked at what it means. The children were very respectful, asked lots of appropriate questions and carried out two minutes silence as a class. The children learnt why we have Remembrance Day, its meaning and why it is important to so many people. We wrote about the characteristics of people in the military and wrote any information we could recall on our images and made poppies to display in our window. After the two minutes silence, we listened to “We’ll Meet Again” by Vera Lynn and watched a video of the Royal Family laying wreaths at the Cenotaph in London.

Also this week, we have used a number line to add two numbers together and worked hard to use a number line accurately and independently. In English we have learnt about verbs, in Science we explored similarities and differences between animals and in Phonics we have looked at the digraphs ‘ng’ and ‘th’. Mrs Dorota taught Design Technology this week and the children looked at the differences between fruits and vegetables and then sorted them into groups, as well as looking at different fruits and vegetables in person and seeing what was on the inside.

Today has been ‘Children in Need’ and we have completed lots of activities such as decorating biscuits, make masks and design our own Pudsey bears. Thank you all for your donations today, I’m sure they will make a positive difference to our local community.
