Hello and welcome to our blog!
We have been so busy the past two weeks settling into new routines, enjoying our new lessons and exploring our new classroom.
In English we have begun our fiction topic by reading ‘Class Two at the Zoo’. We have made predictions, shared our opinions and written questions to ask characters. Some of the children pretended to be the characters so we were able to have some of our questions answered.
The children have amazed us the past two weeks with their understanding and knowledge of numbers. We have ordered numbers, identified missing numbers in a number line stolen by the Cookie Monster and counting out objects to represent numbers.
In Science we have started to look into our new topic of animals, where we can now name common animals as well as more unique animals that we haven’t all heard of. We also played animal snap and had lots of fun with our friends. We also looked at how we can move our bodies in P.E to replicate some of the more common animals that we know. The children really enjoyed their P.E lessons this week and work really hard to understand how we can interpret our movements in different ways.
We have loved looking at toys from the past in History as our new topic is all about toys. (Please see our pictures in the gallery – you may recognise some of them!)
The children have worked really hard in Phonics as they have recapped some of the phase 3 digraphs and their spellings for next week link to the sounds we have looked at this week. (Spelling lists are on our spelling tab and in the children’s spelling records.)
Thank you for reading at home with the children as well as completing homework and practising their spellings. The second piece of homework is due Friday 24th September, the same day as our next spelling test.
Thanks to you all for a wonderful start to the year. We have loved every minute!
