Better late than never!! Apologies for the delayed blog post, the excitement of half term must have got too much for us!
Last week in Rainbow class we have been rounding off our work on Christopher Columbus by celebrating with our very own Columbus Day (pictures to follow!)
We have been learning about famous explorers in history, with a focus on Columbus. Trying to out do the Americans, we created our own version of Columbus Day where lots of fun was had by all! We made sailor hats, clay boats, oragami boats which we sailed, had a go at rowing in Mr P'a canoe and tasted some of the foods that Columbus brought back to Europe from America. I have to say, I was very impressed that most of the children tried all the foods. Even Max (who will be the first to admit can be a fussy eater!) tried everything and I was extremely impressed! It was a fun day had by all and we will share the pictures with you very soon.
We have also been continuing to plan our own traditional tale, which we will be writing as soon as we are back fresh from half term.
The last week of a half term is often spent finishing off and rounding off our current topics. We have now finished our Powerpoints for Mrs Cottam and also finished our learning about animal survival in Science. The children have produced some fantastic work this half term and I am really proud of all the hard work they have put in.
I have been getting excited planning all the fun things we are doing ready for next half term! I hope you all have a wonderful half term and spend your time doing lots of fun and exciting things. Get ready to tell me all about them on Monday!
