This week in sunshine class it is all about Chinese new year. We have been looking at their traditions. We have done lots of activities such as making Chinese flags, money envelopes, paper chains and Chinese dragon masks. This afternoon we are having a Chinese New Year party. The children have made a Chinese dragon and we will go round school to show the other classes then we will go into the hall for our party where we will listen to Chinese music and also try diferent Chinese food.

They story of the animals teaches us why each year is a different animal and way it is in that order. This year it is the year of the dog. 

The children have found out which animal it was the year they were born. If your child was born in 2012 it was the year of the dragon and if your child was born in 2013 it was the year of the snake.

In Maths we have continued to practice counting to 20 and started looking at symmetry. The children painted a butterfly and talked about both sides being symmetrical.
