What a sensational first week we have had together. The children have had a week settling into their new surroundings, exploring the resources both in the classroom, and outside.

We have been learning our routines; enjoying time with the whole school in assemblies and at lunch time, tidying away at tidy up time, sharing information at key group time, listening carefully and not shouting out at carpet times.

I am thrilled at how fantastic the class have been whilst learning their phonics. We have covered s, a, t, p this week. They have all listened really well and have joined in with the songs to help us to remember the sounds too.

Everybody has been doing really well at working on our activities this week. We have finished our houses and talked about who lives in our house. These are now displayed over our coat hooks. Everybody has been practising writing their name and we have made some lovely family tree leaves. I am also proud of how well the children have done with describing the things they can see in their reading books. Next week we will be trying to say full sentences using time words whilst reading our stories, (one morning, later on, first, then, next, after that, finally)

Yesterday we enjoyed our first PE lesson. Everybody looked very smart in their coloured team T-shirts. We will continue working on getting ourselves changed for PE quickly and looking after our own things so that we don’t lose any of our belongings. The session was led by Dan from AFC Fylde. I hope you enjoyed looking at the photographs on facebook.

I am pleased to say everybody is forming positive relationships with the adults and peers in the classroom. We are all learning each others names and finding out what our likes and dislikes are. Sunshine class is a very happy, kind place to be.

Every Friday we award certificates in our school assembly. One star of the week; this is a child who stands out all week at trying really hard to do something, or being consistent with something such as being a kind friend, or being helpful. This term The star of the week each week will be chosen by Miss Chippendale. This week was a tough decision but she chose Isaac.C because he has been super smiley and kind to others all week.

The other certificates awarded are merit awards. There are two of these from each class and these are for things that have made us smile during the week. This term Mrs

Bradley will choose one of these awards each week. This week she chose Hope for going out of her way to help another child when they needed some help.

Mrs Carney will choose the other merit award each week. This week her choice was Noah for helping his friend when he got stuck on the trim trail.

Finally I give out awards for polite manners. So if your child has a polite award this is because they have been spotted around school using good manners, holding the doors open or being respectful to others.

Thank you to those of you who returned the magic moments sheets, milk money letters and flu letters this week. If you haven’t yet, please do so next week.

Also may I take this opportunity to thank Hannahs mummy for contacting the LEP last week. We were touched and feel extremely special because of our mention in the paper. Thank you so very much.

Have a lovely weekend
