Getting to know you, getting to know all about you…

This week has been full of activities to encourage the children to make lots of friendships. Some children have gone out of their way to make new friends by being kind and caring towards others, by sharing the resources, or by engaging in conversations to find out similar likes and interests. This has been really lovely to see. Every child picked out their new friends in sunshine class and has remembered as many names as possible from the new group.

We have been working hard on writing our names. We have made a big scrabble board with our names on, bracelets, paintings and collages. It is important to remember a capital letter at the start of a name so we have talked about capital letters too.

As it is approaching our Harvest festival, we have been learning our songs ready for the assembly, which has been penciled in for Friday 12th October at 2:30pm. (Further info to follow but parents are welcome to come along to this celebration) the children have enjoyed the “Mr Scarecrow” song and “Big Red Combine Harvester”.

Miss Chippendale has continued delivering the phonics sessions. Children have now learnt s,a,t,p,i,n sounds. I hope you will all be able to come to the phonics stay and play session next Tuesday at 2pm to find out about phonics and share some phonics activities with your child. We will also talk briefly about the reading approach we take.

Dan came in again yesterday for our weekly football skills. The session was fabulous and our certificate was awarded to Sapphire.

This weeks star of the week goes to Aleks who has been trying extra hard all week to communicate in English which is his second language.

Mrs Bradley chose Niamh for her merit certificate winner for fantastic effort in p.e and Mrs Carney chose Kyra for the other merit award for being a fabulous friend.
