Modern Foreign Languages
The Curriculum Co-Ordinator for Modern Foreign Languages is Miss Pass
Modern Foreign Languages is a key part of our curriculum and follows the National Curriculum Programmes of Study as well as the Lancashire Programme of Study. In Modern Foreign Languages we cover a range of key skills: listening and responding to spoken language, communicating through spoken and written language, asking and responding to questions and broadening our vocabulary. Each topic we study has a clear link to the National Curriculum. Modern Foreign Languages is taught for half an hour in each Key Stage 2 class each week in accordance with statutory requirements.

This year we have changed the language we study to Spanish in order that the MFL Co-ordinator teaches this across all four classes in KS2.
Because this is a new language each child is starting their learning at the same point and therefore the same learning is taking place in each class.
This is differentiated by the activity when necessary for any high achieving children.
This will be adapted each year as a new class moves into year 3, this can be seen on the assessment grids prepared.
