Phonics

The Curriculum Co-Ordinator for Phonics is Miss Wilson

Phonics is an important part of our curriculum. As a School, we follow Little Wandle Letters and Sounds, which is a revised and approved programme of study by the DFE. In Key Stage One, Phonics is taught in daily sessions and imbedded into every lesson through their reading and writing skills. In Key Stage Two, Phonics is taught in small intervention groups, where applicable.

Phonics

Phonics has been identified as a basic skill that has been affected by COVID-19 and the closures in School.

Phonics catch up is used in most year groups through IEP’s and Wave 2 interventions.

Phonics is also a key subject with the current HLTA, who is carrying out COVID catch up sessions daily, with children from Years 2 to 6.
